WOW Wicklow and Our World

Welcome to WOW, Wicklow Town and Environs' Transition Initiative.

This website is a work in progress, and there will be more information up soon. But, for the moment here is a taster of what we have been up to:

Film: Age of Stupid on 8th March

The film was shown, followed by a lively discussion led by Suzie Cahn on the film and issues surrounding the Transition Initiative.

Community Garden Open Day, Wicklow Town, on 21st March

We had great weather and a brilliant turnout, at least from those who have kids and love picnics!

We fixed up the willow dome and dragon and they look great! We also planted some trees and flowers, found wiggly worms, and some gardeners got stuck straight into their new plot!

We welcomed plenty of new people into the garden, who have lots of energy to start planting and making the community garden really productive. There is always room for more, so if you'd like to join in please contact us.

Film and Talk: Wild Food in Stone Age Ireland, on 22nd March

Dr Graeme Warren, from UCD School of Archaeology, gave a talk on the wild food that would have been hunted, but mainly gathered by our Irish ancestors. With the help of Ray Mear's Wild Food, which he showed an episode of, and a few stone artifacts gathered from Wicklow Town itself, Greame gave a very interesting talk, which captured the attention and imagination of the audience.

We're just getting started so keep checking to see what's on next! If you have any questions or comments, or would like to get involved, or would like to join our mailing list, please don't hesitate to contact us.
